How to clean vintage coat 80% wool 20% mohair? Can i handwash? Drycleaner won’t bcoz no label?
This leopard print coat is kind of fleecy in appearance and the drycleaner is reluctant to touch it as it has no care label and he thinks it’s acrylic (despite composition label) and will matt. The labels are definately original to the garment. Should i handwash it as for wool or insist on drycleaning? i’d really appreciate some advice 
First off, the dry cleaner should know how to test the fiber to know what it is. It is very simple to do. Since your cleaners didn’t think about that, find a “more qualified” one.
To test it yourself, pull off a few fibers and twist them into a thread. Light them on fire. If you smell an odor like “a burnt wet dog” it is wool, if the thread just “melts” and the burned part is a small hard plastic ash, it is acrylic.
As for washing, it may be okay but the feel and the look will be different than dry cleaning.
Sounds like you should just find a real “professional” dry cleaner that knows his/her stuff.
